We all have them, so that's what this topic is for. If you have a question, ask it here. If you can answer it, feel free to do so.
Some questions new members may have:
Q. What themes are available on Brockhall?
A. Brockhall currently has three themes accessible to its members. The default theme, the Default Dark theme, and the Woods theme.
The Default theme is the standard white and blue layout of the forum, and is always included on Brockhall should the other themes fail. The Staff recommend one of the other themes, however.
The Default Dark theme uses the same layout as the default theme, but is darker and easier on the eyes.
The Woods theme uses a green color scheme, tree-themed icons, and fits very well with the theme of the site. As of the 22/12/2016, the Woods theme has been set to the forum default.
To use a new theme, click on "Profile > Edit Profile > Settings > Forum Theme." You may select any of the themes listed here.
Q. I'm not using the default theme. What are those two out-of-place icons when I try to post?
A. Brockhall uses a number of plugins to try and keep your use of the forum simple. Among these are three plugins that modify how you are able to post. The first, a button marked with "Shhh" allows you to post "whispers." Post something only one member should see, highlight it, then click the button and type their username. Their username may be different to their display name; however, for instance, if you were to whisper to me, you would have to whisper to "admin".
The second, two buttons to the right of the whisper tags, allows you to post a spoiler. You will be asked to give a name to the spoiler, as well as the contents of the spoiler. One problem with spoilers on Brockhall is that they look identical to regular text. You may have to specify that something is a spoiler, like so:
The final button is labelled Simple Tagging. It allows you to quickly @mention any members who have posted in the thread, or all of them. You can still @mention members directly, but you must use their username, which as previously outlined, may be different to their display name. (Again, my username is admin, not Dundee. To mention me, type "@|admin" without the "|".)
Q. How come I had to sign up with an email? I don't want people to see my email!
A. That's perfectly fine, but due to the rules of the forum host, you must have a valid email and be at least 13 years of age. You may hide your age and email through your profile.
